Welcome

You might be here because…

  • Your child or teen is struggling to find the words to talk about feelings, stress, or difficult experiences
  • You are a parent, caregiver, or child in need of support with connection and family transitions
  • You are hoping to explore new opportunities for further growth and understanding for yourself
  • Big feelings come out as shutdown, anger, avoidance, or disconnection
  • You’ve tried therapy before, but it didn’t fully reach what’s underneath

Nashville Expressive Therapy (NEXT) was founded by Rachel Murphy Norman, MAT, ATR-BC, a Board-Certified Art Therapist with more than ten years of experience supporting children, teens, adults, and families through life’s challenges and transitions.

At NEXT, we believe that healing, growth, and self-discovery can happen in many ways. Sometimes words aren’t enough to express what we’re experiencing, and creative engagement can offer another way to explore, process, and understand ourselves. Engaging our senses and activating creativity can reshape neural pathways, supporting the brain’s capacity for change and resilience.

Whether you’re navigating life transitions, struggling with depression or anxiety, experiencing relationship issues, or simply seeking deeper self-understanding, NEXT offers a space where curiosity, creativity, and connection can create new growth. At the heart of our work is a simple belief: creativity belongs to everyone. You don’t have to consider yourself an artist to benefit from creative expression. Show up just as you are.
