Background

Meet Rachel

I am a Nashville-based Board-Certified Art Therapist, mental health clinician, and professional artist with more than 20 years of experience in the arts. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2006, with a concentration in painting, and later completed my master’s degree in Art Therapy. Throughout my career, I have worked in community mental health, inpatient psychiatric settings, schools, and art studios, supporting individuals and families navigating complex emotional and life experiences.

My approach brings together my background as an artist with my clinical training in trauma-informed and evidence-based therapeutic practices. I am passionate about helping people better understand themselves, navigate difficult experiences, and develop meaningful connections with others. I believe that creativity can be a powerful tool for self-expression, healing, and personal growth. You don’t need to consider yourself an artist or have any previous art experience to benefit from art therapy.

I specialize in helping children, teens, and adults process anxiety, depression, emotional distress, relationship and attachment challenges, self-esteem, identity, and personal growth. I integrate art therapy alongside evidence-based therapy approaches such as EMDR, TF-CBT, ARC, and attachment-based interventions. This work is gentle, structured, and tailored to each person’s pace.

Together, we work toward helping clients:

  • Reconnect with themselves and their sense of safety
  • Build regulation skills and resilience
  • Express what feels difficult to say out loud
  • Safely process traumatic or stressful experiences
  • Connect with community and long-lasting support
  • Develop their identity and build confidence

My professional training includes:

  • Art Therapy and Expressive Therapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Attachment, Regulation, and Competency Framework (ARC)
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Training and Education
  • Evidence-based parenting skills curricula, including:
    • Strengthening Families
    • Nurturing Parenting
